Suddenly, the village lit up. The crew were surprised. Captain Thomas asked Soka, “Do you have electricity here?” Soka asked, “What is electricity?” Someone shouted, “The tree is on fire.” They all looked at a brightly lit coconut tree. “That’s not fire,” said Soka. “It’s the firebugs; they are as big as coconuts and very good to us. “They have always been with us, lighting up the village every night. When darkness descends, the firebugs cling to the coconut trees and our houses, and their bottoms light up like a lantern. They are easier to look after than lanterns, and when the sun rises, they go back to their caves to sleep.”
Christmas is coming, and this is an opportunity to own one of my characters from Egg Island. Also, with the paintings, I will send a signed copy of my book Egg Island.
