59.1x78.7 in ~ Painting, Oil
I once said it would be easier for me to walk on the moon than become an artist.
While I was 13 years old and working in a Bangkok sweatshop, we called it a factory back then; we made shirts from early morning till late in the evening with one day off a week, a Sunday. We worked late and slept in the same place, but still, it was better than the rice fields I came from.
One Sunday, I went for a walk. I didn't get far and came across an old art studio with an old man painting with oil paints, and I stood and watched him for ages; he invited me in, showed me what he was doing, and showed me around his studio.
I knew I wanted to be like that old man and paint; I loved that old studio and the chaos, the smell of paint and varnish. It was fascinating, and I was well and truly hooked. I didn't know how to do it, but I knew one day I would be an artist, but I remember thinking it would be easier to walk on the moon than me becoming an artist.
It was pure chance that a cheeky little drawing I did later in life changed my life forever and got me into the world of art, and now my work is hanging on walls in 64 countries. And for 2023, I’m in the top 10 women to invest in with Singulart.
I now live in a beautiful part of Thailand with my house and studio overlooking the beautiful Gulf of Thailand. Not bad for a girl from the rice fields.
